ah... home sweet home! Just took like the most refreshing bath ever. Feeling rather shagged out now and I really don't think I'll be embarking on the hike anytime soon.In the end, it was down to 6 people to brave this perilious journey... 6 brave men. Gerard the wise, Bean the coward, Jared the boar, Melvin the romeo, Marcel your mr nice guy and James the lost (which by the way happens to be me) So there you have it our team of 6 men doesn't sound too promising does it? But I'm proud of every single one of them cuz given our circumstances we still managed to get back in one piece.Alright it all started out in the afternoon when I definitely told everyone to meet at 4.45 but knowing them, we met at 6.15 instead. Melvin treated us to a oh so filling dinner (thanks melvin you have earned your redemption) and by the time we reached ubin it was close to 8pm. Feeling pretty eager to start we started out at a rather quick pace but stopped minutes later cuz this police patrol asked us questions... (I hate the police) That being over and done with, we reached this place called the secret garden and I'm sure bean was scared of the various scarecrows strategically set up all over the place. He kept asking Melvin to switch on the torch when the full moon was bathing it's light all over the place. So we trudged on and it was rather uneventful till we reached the jungle tracks. The previous time i went there with Nelson happened to be in the day so visibility was not a problem at that point of time and i could clearly see the markings on the trees which eventually would lead the way out. However this was a different story, we were using torches and even the light from the moon couldn't help us cuz the canopy blocked most of the light from the moon. SO, yea we got lost and kept trying to find our way out.. Gerard and I were acting scouts for the night so we went ahead of the group to try and find a way out. I can't even count the number of spider-webs that clung onto me. It was kinda freaky too like just the two of us searching everywhere; pushing branches aside, stepping over big logs, crawling under plants. We even saw a tree covered in thorns! We kept on high alert all this while, not only because we were searching for a way out but there was wild boars, dogs and monkeys around and I wasn't gonna be like their next dinner or anything. So after a long 45mins later, we managed to find our way out. Bean was blaming me for making them lost and he started to take over the situation and acting big and all. *shrugs* I was fine with that, the rest of the journey was idiot-proof anyway. We stopped at a hut situated along the road which was a resting place for hikers/bikers and made a fire... *laughs* Jared and I had fun collecting leaves and twigs for the fire. Somehow, we managed to make the fire last till we left. Melvin was talking to his new girl on the phone so we irritated him for awhile n when it got boring, Gerard n I started "sword" fighting with the bamboo sticks we brought along for the hike. After we left our "camp" site, we walked all the way back taking a few detours here n there with no trouble.. Gerard and I were leading and the rest kept telling us to slow down cuz like Bean said, we were in our own little world. Kept playing funny games and coming up with stupid nonsense. Reached the village bout 4 am and lay down on the basketball court (what's left of it) till 6am... Gerard and Co played some crazy lightstick game which I sat out from cuz i was really kinda tired already. At 6, we went to the malay stall and ate mee rebus for breakfast before embarking on the long journey home...There you have it our trip to pulau ubin! Pictures will come soon but there's nothing much worth seeing anyways... alot of pictures were wasted on the fire and lightstick patterns.... *laughs* Gerard once again. Most of those pictures which he saw was nice he wanted as his wallpaper. lols. Alright time for some sleep... goodnight people! This has been one of my longer post for ages! heh...
